Royal Cape offers seven sets of tees on each hole; they are guarded by strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. 

The fairways offer some generous landing areas, but you must be accurate off these tee boxes as trouble lurks beyond them. 

The signature 16th hole requires an accurate tee shot over a long valley and out to an island green surrounded by water. The 18th is also memorable for its island green setting – but don’t go looking for it because there isn’t one! It’s actually two separate holes that come together at the end.

6. Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club

This championship course offers two 18-hole courses, one designed by Gary Player and another by Ronald Fream. 

The golf course is famous for hosting major championships such as the South African Open, which was first played here back in 1924. Although it has a strict dress code (no denim), we love that it’s open until 9 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekends. An 18-hole round costs R550 per person (Mon–Fri before 2:30 pm).
